World Sight Day and More

October 14. That’s World Sight Day 2021.

What is it? World Sight Day is designated each year as a global day of awareness during which vision health groups raise funds and address blindness and vision loss.

This world-wide event was launched in 2000 by the SightFirstCampaign of Lions Club International Foundation. Held the second Thursday of October, The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), which now manages the event—and numerous other international participating organizations—invites practices to participate in this year’s campaign, #LoveYourEyes.

4The 4Ps are prevent, protect, preserve, and prioritize.

GLOBAL GOAL

Partnering with IAPB for the 2021 global campaign are Allergan, Bayer, Novartis, OneSight, Seva Foundation, and World Council of Optometry. Beginning Sept. 1, the goal was to get more than a million eye tests pledged around the world.

Messaging to consumers has been focusing on “The 4Ps to Love Your Eyes…prevent, protect, preserve, and prioritize.”  For more info, including posters and social media resources, go to www.iapb.org/world-sight-day/toolkits-and-promotional-material/
