The Gift of Giving

‘Tis the season…to involve, staff, patients, and the community in giving, that is.

While some purchases are planned, more than one-third of sales made by consumers around the holiday season are actually impulse buys, reports Ipseo.

So, how do you encourage those purchases, be they planned or spur-of-the-moment?

Where you place product (and, of course, how you package displays for the holidays) makes all the difference.

Tip: Want to put up a tree? Try decorating it with eyeglass accessories.

10ways to make the season jolly and profitable

Surprise Buys

Here are 10 tips to make the season jolly…and sales spontaneous.

1. Place small impulse items near the register.

2. Box them and have some wrapped and ready to go.

3. Offer local craft creations, along with info about the artists.

4. Create (and promote) gift certificates.

5. Make up gift baskets (sunnies with a cord, cleaning cloth, and even sunscreen, for example).

6. Pick a charity and keep a contribution jar where you (and patients) can see it.

7. Promote eyewear recycling and donating. Create a decorated bin for them.

8. Create a festive display of colorful readers.

9. Want to put up a tree? Try decorating it with eyeglass accessories.

10. Be sure to promote these holiday products online as well as in-store.
