Planning for 2024
Now that we’re in Q4 of 2023, it’s high time to be planning for the coming year.
Where do you start? According to accounting firm Founder’s CPA in Chicago, “Annual business planning clearly outlines activities for each team member to undertake while working toward achieving their business goals. Although you can deviate from your plan as the year progresses, your actions should work to bring you to those goals.”

It also includes specific steps you and your team want to take. To find out what’s on the minds of some of your peers, we reached out to two Shamir Peer-to-Peer Champions. We invited each to share one action step they’re taking for 2024.
Enhance Product Knowledge
“In 2024, a mission of mine is to increase my product knowledge to serve each wearer’s individual needs. Although it may seem like a very straightforward task, it can be challenging to keep up with all manufacturers’ constantly shifting product lineups. Learning more about the technical aspects of products and how they affect the wearer is one element.
“The other element is being fully present to hear the true need, using the most appropriate product on the market to fill that need, and then being able to explain in plain terms how and why that product fills the need.”

Avenues for Growth
“In 2021, I opened my second store. It’s doing quite well, but that is a main focus for 2024. I have a part-time doctor there and would like to grow that to two days a week. Also, to continue to provide the best service and products, and then let that be my advertising!
“I’ve hired a couple of new employees with no optical experience, one of whom is interested in becoming a licensed optician. As a team, we will foster and grow both of these excellent employees!
“I’ve also just announced Frameology Online! We are not selling lenses online as of yet, but I wanted to get my e-commerce going, and marketing this will be a huge 2024 project.”
