Fashion Forecast

Spring has sprung. So, what’s ahead in terms of the look, feel, and colors of fashion as we move through spring and into summer?

Tip: Palettes span from the most classic neutrals to the most innovative of backlit brights.

As seen through the eyes of several fashion forecasters, here are some of the top trends considered to be now and next.

PANTONE COLOR INSTITUTE

• Awareness. “As we seek refuge and connectiveness in nature, we discover that the most essential things are, in fact, the most primal ones. Colors for spring/summer 2025 capture this awareness, from essential marbled whites and grays to savannah greens and browns, to complementary watery, shimmery and sky-like blues.”

• Bond. According to the Pantone Colour Planner, “palettes span from the most classic neutrals to the most innovative of backlit brights, reflecting an essential bond between humans, animals, and fauna.”

• AI. “This alliance is cherished as we sync with AI, creating a harmonious balance between technology and nature.”

13 Numéro, a French woman’s fashion magazine, points to 13 top trends this spring and summer.

VOGUE FOR MEN

Head-to-toe florals. Yes, you read correctly—florals for men. Other trends: plaids, along with fold-over and inside-out waistbands. Talking spring and summer, Vogue described conflicting trends seen on stage in menswear. “On the runways, what we saw was push-pull between magnitude and intimacy.”

PREPPY AT HARRODS

Known for setting and showcasing top trends, the London-based clothier for men says it’s all about a return to preppy—with a twist, that is.

Modern prep mixes formal and casual: a shirt and tie with a cardigan or tailored trousers topped by a tank top or track jacket.

NUMÉRO FOR WOMEN

This French women’s magazine focusing on haute couture points to 13 top trends for women this spring and summer: lingerie, matching mini-shorts, suits, feminine workwear, wide-leg trousers, indie “sleaze” dresses, asymmetrical pants, neo-ware, parkas, artistic prints and silhouettes, balletcore, florals, and DIY (do-it-yourself) mix-and-match combos.
